Parks and Recreation returns!

You love her stares, her quippy lines that say a lot with just a few words. She's Donna from Parks and Recreation, which returns to the NBC Thursday comedy lineup tonight at 9:30. We caught up with actress Retta on the TCA red carpet last week to get a bit of a hint about what's coming up next for the show. We also got a bit of back story from the lady herself.

SheKnows: So tell us a bit about what we're going to see coming up on Parks and Recreation.

Parks and Recreation with Amy Poehler returns

Retta: Well, this season we're going to see some new hook-ups, and my character Donna kind of helps out Ann on how to get her dating life back in order. That was fun to do.

SheKnows: You know Donna is my favorite character. Those amazing "looks!"

Retta: Thanks! And she has a lot more to say this season. I got off pretty easy in the first two seasons. I got to say my interjections and give my looks. Now I actually have to learn lines. [Laughs] So...I'm pretty excited about that.

SheKnows: This show is such a fan favorite. They've really stuck with you guys. What do you want to say to them?

Retta: Keep watching! [Laughs] Seriously, I don't like, toot horns or whatever, but the writers are really, really funny. Particularly this season, they've so figured us all out. I mean, there have been table reads where we were dying laughing. Not to say that people don't blow smoke, but we were dying laughing to the point where, you know, I was getting a headache. So I can't wait for this stuff to air.

SheKnows: I've been watching since the beginning, but the show has really become all about the characters and their ins and outs and their quirkiness.

Retta: It definitely has. Obviously with more time you get to learn more about the characters. But I feel like the writers...the actors are obviously learning as we go along, but the writers so know it that you read the page, and you can see the expressions. As you're reading you can see what Tom's face is going to look like. You know what Leslie's face is going to look like and how she's going to act in that moment because she so nailed it.

SheKnows: Tell us a little secret fact about your character.

Retta: A secret fact about my character. [Laughs] You know, I've been trying to get the writers to say that I'm divorced so I have all this money, but I just want something to do with my day, so that's why I work in the parks department. We'll see if I get it, but as far as I'm concerned, she's got a lot of alimony. That's how she can afford that damn Mercedes.

Parks and Recreation returns tonight at 9:30 p.m., following The Office on NBC.

The Beastie Boys are coming back with their eighth album, Hot Sauce Committee Part Two, along with a new 30-minute movie, Fight for Your Right Revisited, to promote the May release. On the heels of the album's first single, Make Some Noise, comes the movie trailer, featuring Elijah Wood, Seth Rogen, Danny McBride, Will Ferrell, John C. Reilly, Jack Black, Ted Danson, Stanley Tucci, Susan Sarandon and more!

The Beastie Boys trailer that has taken over the net is almost cool enough to stand on its own, but we're in luck: It's just a teaser! The Fight for Your Right Revisited 30-minute movie promises to be one wild, star-studded party that kicks off where the infamous 1986 Fight for Your Right video ended.

Elijah Wood, Seth Rogen and Danny McBride in Fight for Your Right Revisited

Fight for Your Right Revisited features two sets of Beastie Boys, with the young crew played by Elijah Wood , Seth Rogen and Danny McBride and the crew from 25 years later played by Will Ferrell , John C. Reilly and Jack Black .

After a wild night, Ad-Rock, Mike D and MCA run into their older selves and are not impressed. How does a crew solve a scuffle with their other selves? With a breakdance battle, of course! "We bring a super-fresh, old-school throwdown dance contest from the future," Ferrell challenges.

During their wild NYC adventure, the Beasties run into characters played by the likes of Will Arnett, Zach Galifianakis, Orlando Bloom, Kirsten Dunst, Jason Schwartzman, David Cross, Steve Buscemi, Ted Danson, Rainn Wilson, Amy Poehler, Alicia Silverstone, Rashida Jones, Chloe Sevigny, Susan Sarandon, Stanley Tucci and Laura Dern.

The Beastie Boys, 2011

The real Beasties, Adam Horovitz , Mike Diamond and Adam Yauch , show up as cops who put an end to the scuffle between the battling Beasties.

The Beastie Boys' last hurrah was cut short when Yauch was diagnosed with throat cancer in 2009.

Hot Sauce Committee Part One, the first installment of their three-part album, was held back indefinitely and the tour was canceled.

A year and a half later, the first album still doesn't have a release date, but Hot Sauce Committee Part Two drops May 3, along with Fight for Your Right Revisited, which was directed by Yauch !

The band hopes to hit the road for an album tour, but only if Yauch is up for it. Word dropped in January that he is cancer free and recovering, but according to what Mike D told XFM London, it's still "kinda like week by week."

SheKnows is sending healing vibes to the recovering Beastie. In the meantime, for $74.99 fans get an HD copy of the full movie with a deluxe package preorder of the Beastie Boys' Hot Sauce Committee Part Two, plus a digital download of the new album, three bonus tracks, a poster and a t-shirt, as well as physical copies on both CD and vinyl.

Actress Rashida Jones plays a lesbian in her new movie, Our Idiot Brother. Now she's talking about what it was like to kiss co-star Zooey Deschanel.

Rashida JonesRashida Jones makes out with Zooey Deschanel in Our Idiot Brother. So what was it like to play a lesbian? The Parks and Recreation actor spills the beans.

As part of her research for playing Cindy, her lesbian lawyer character in the movie, Jones turned to her gay friends.

"I actually looked to my lesbian friends for approval of my portrayal of a lesbian," she tells The Advocate. "That's crazy, of course, because there's such a large gamut that lesbians run, but they gave me the thumbs up."

Her on-screen kiss with Deschanel was her first girl-on-girl make-out session ever.

"I was like, 'Oh, my God, girls are so pretty and soft. No stubble burn! What am I doing with guys?'"

As for what influence that scene had on her sexuality, Jones says, "I haven't dipped back since, but I was very appreciative of the experience."

Jones got a makeover for the role, too. Paul Rudd plays the "idiot brother" of the movie's title, and Jones plays the girlfriend of one of his three sisters played by Deschanel.

"I wear these insane glasses and dress super-ironic preppy, but I didn't want to do anything too cartoonish or stereotypical," says Jones. "When I first saw myself in the movie, I thought, 'Ooh, that was a bold choice I'm not so sure about.' But then I was OK, because I feel like the actual character wasn't as informed by her sexuality as the look was."

Rashida Jones says kissing Zooey Deschanel in Our Idiot Brother was awkward

Parks and Recreation star Rashida Jones took a break from her day job to appear in the new comedy Our Idiot Brother. In the film, she plays a straight-laced lesbian who has a great job and a hot girlfriend . The actress' new gig showcases her first lesbian kiss, which she admits was slightly awkward to film.

Rashida Jones Our Idiot Brother

In Our Idiot Brother, Rashida Jones plays a lawyer named Cindy, who's in a relationship with the bisexual Natalie , one of the sisters of the "idiot brother." Cindy is the first lesbian character that Jones has played and she was really nervous about shooting her big kissing scene.

According to OMG Yahoo, not only did Jones seek advice from her lesbian friends but she also went to a higher power -- Oscar winner Natalie Portman. Portman appeared in a heated love scene in last year's Black Swan, so if anyone could give advice, it's her.

"I'm friends with Natalie and I asked her [what to expect], says Jones. "She was like, 'Dude, it's awkward to make out with your friends - I'm just warning you right now. It's super awkward!'"

When it got down to it, Jones took everything in stride. She says, "It was totally fun. I mean, it was slightly awkward, only because Zooey and I have known each other for a long time. It's kind of weird to kiss your friends. But, you know, she's so pretty - she doesn't make it that hard!" she added.

We're happy Jones persevered because her character had more pressing issues to deal with. Our Idiot Brother centers on an ex-con, slacker named Ned who's released from prison and becomes a financial and personal strain on his siblings. Jones' character is just one of the many people, who get caught up in his ball of confusion.

Our Idiot Brother opens in theaters Aug. 26.

Rashida Jones spills on Michael Jackson & other celeb friends

Rashida Jones tells Playboy that Michael Jackson was "a little bit of an alien" and dishes on other celebs she grew up with.

Rashida JonesParks and Recreation star Rashida Jones is a huge talent in her own right, but growing up she had a unique view into the world of celebrity thanks to her star parents, Quincy Jones and Peggy Lipton. As part of Playboy's 20 Questions series, Jones dishes on some of her favorite childhood celebrity encounters -- including playing practical jokes with Michael Jackson.

"Michael basically grew up with us, so I have a million memories of him," Rashida told Playboy. "We were at each other's houses all the time. He was definitely a little bit of an alien, for sure, and when I was young, it felt as if he was my age, not 18 years older, but with just a little bit more pep."

"Later, we'd go out on the town together. He always wore those surgical masks. Once, my sister, Michael, Emmanuel Lewis and I got in a car with Super Soakers and went by a movie theater and supersoaked the hell out of people waiting in line. They had no idea they'd just been supersoaked by the King of Pop."

Jones hung out with other legends, too. Like big-deal music icons.

"Major musicians were definitely around, for sure. Nobody was cooler than Miles Davis," she said. "I remember his scratchy voice. Even the way he'd say 'What's up?' was cool. Frank Sinatra was another supercool cat. I went to see him in Vegas as a teenager, and my sister and I were having problems getting backstage. We finally did and told Frank about it. He was like, 'Who did you have problems with? Who do I need to talk to? I'll take care of it.' He was going to crack some skulls."

On the green carpet at The Muppets movie premiere

Jason Segel, Amy Adams and other stars talk about their Muppet love at the premiere of the latest Muppet movie.

Adams and Segel confess their Muppet marvel

From Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy to Jason Segel and Amy Adams, the green carpet at The Muppets premiere was packed with A-listers.

Jason Segel and Amy Adams celebrating The Muppets return to the big screen.

"I loved the Muppets growing up and I knew if I loved the Muppets this much, there was a whole generation of people who loved them as much as I do," Amy told SheKnows.

Segel took his admiration a step further, telling SheKnows he actually "idolized" Kermit as a child.

"When you're a kid, Kermit is the everyman," Segel told us. "He's Tom Hanks. It's who I model myself after."

Segel, who, in addition to acting, wrote and produced the movie, told us that the premiere was easily the best day of his life.

"It's been a long time coming," said Segel. "But it was time for the Muppets to come back to the world, and here we are. It's truly an out of body experience being here."

The stars believe that The Muppets are people too

Other stars, like Rashida Jones, who plays a tough network exec in the movie, said being in The Muppets was "a dream come true."

"I forgot they weren't real a lot of times

"I forgot that they weren't real a lot of times and I would request them off camera," said Rashida. "I would talk to them and forget that there was a person controlling them."

But those who grew up watching these furry friends aren't the only ones who appreciate their charm.

"It was so cool," said Modern Family's Rico Rodriguez of his cameo in the film. He also told SheKnows that Miss Piggy is his favorite muppet. "I'm also a little scared," he said.

Even we got a little star struck when Kermit gave SheKnows a shout out.

"She does Know," Kermit told Miss Piggy and Walter about our site!

In The Muppets, Jason Segel and Amy Adams go old school to find every Jim Henson creation you’ve ever loved and save a dying theater in the name of Kermit.

The Muppets

If you grew up in the '70s and '80s or ever watched an episode of Sesame Street, you know Kermit, Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear and Gonzo — the most lovable puppet, er muppet, creations of all time!

We remember The Muppet Show with guest stars like Diana Ross, Brooke Shields and Bob Hope. We remember The Muppet Movie, The Great Muppet Caper, The Muppets Take Manhattan and many other muppet ensemble films, always charged with back stage gutso and lots of heart.

Recently, however, it's been kind of quiet when it comes to these furry little firecrackers. Where have they all gone? It's been over a decade since we've seen them on the big screen.

That's the premise of the new film, The Muppets, starring Jason Segel and Amy Adams as the couple who joins forces to help their friend Walter — a muppet living in the human world — find the famous group of vaudeville performers who have faded into the fringes of the entertainment world.

JASON AND AMY HEART MUPPETS!

The Muppets

Jason Segel and Amy Adams share their love of the muppets >>

There's only one reason this dysfunctional family of muppets can be reunited — to save their theater from being destroyed by a greedy oil tycoon Tex Richman . Can they make $10 million before midnight in order to save everything they've ever loved? Rashida Jones plays the studio executive who gives them one more chance.

True Muppet lovers will enjoy this nostalgic look at a group of friends who jump into action whenever they hear "it's time to play the music…!" Bigger and better than ever, this film includes all your old favorites and a few new characters, too.

Tongue and cheek dialog mixed with a sense of self awareness about making movies gives this film the chutzpah we've all grown to love.

New voices, new energy

True Muppet fans will notice the original voices from The Muppet Show aren't exactly the same. Jim Henson, who died in 1990, performed the original voice of Kermit the Frog. But now, Kermit's voice is performed — and has been since Henson's death — by puppeteer Steve Whitmire.

Although there is truly no replacement for the melancholic, yet surprisingly motivational voice of Kermit that won us over singing the 1979 hit The Rainbow Connection , Whitmire does an amazing job.

Henson's long time creative partner Frank Oz, who originally voiced Miss Piggy and Fozzie Bear , has been replaced in The Muppets by puppeteer Eric Jacobson.

Singing, dancing and bears who tell jokes

Chris Cooper

Voices aside, the lovable characters are back in all their glory, performing terrible acts to a dismal audience. Jason Segel joins the show with two comical numbers, winning hearts with his ability to keep up with these tough-but-engaging personalities. Amy Adams and Miss Piggy have a "me party" with a song about wanting more from their men, Segel and Kermit, respectively. Sing it, sistas!

But by far the best musical performance of the film is Chris Cooper's rap song about being a villain. You've never seen an oil tycoon who can bring it with a dance routine until you see Cooper desk stomp and give us his maniacal laugh .

"It's time to play the music, it's time to light the lights, it's time to meet the Muppets on the Muppet Show tonight…!"

Bottom line: If you've missed old school Kermit, Fozzie and Piggy and you love musical numbers that make you laugh, this is one nostalgic trip down Muppet lane you don't want to miss.

Andy Samberg still silly despite serious role in Celeste and Jesse

Andy Samberg has made us laugh for years on Saturday Night Live, but now the actor is headed to the big screen full-time. See what he told us about his latest role in Celeste and Jesse Forever.

Andy Samberg and Rashida Jones, Celeste and Jesse ForeverAndy Samberg steps out of his comfort zone with a mostly serious role in this month’s romantic drama Celeste and Jesse Forever.

“It was fun,” Andy told us.  “It was different. It was challenging. I know where my bread is buttered, and it’s comedy, but this is definitely the kind of more serious part that I felt like I was up for.”

WATCH THE INTERVIEW

Andy Samberg talks Celeste and Jesse Forever

Andy Samberg talks about his role in Celeste and Jesse Forever and his plans post Saturday Night Live.

Samberg does a fantastic job of portraying jilted husband “Jesse,” to Rashida Jones' independent “Celeste.” However, the tables quickly turn in this brutally honest look at love.

While the movie has its funny moments – Jesse starts off as a pathetic stoner living in Celeste’s guest house -- the story is quite serious. Andy flexes his acting chops as he successfully navigates the role of romantic lead, charming a gorgeous model and reducing Rashida’s character to tears. But don’t let Andy’s mature performance fool you; Samberg is just as silly as ever.

When questioned on his plans for the future, post Saturday Night Live, the actor informed us of some pretty lofty goals.

“I want to be President of the United States,” said Samberg. “I make no apologies for that. Yeah I’ve done some ‘shrooms, but if ‘W’ can do coke and be in the Oval Office, why not this guy?”

In all seriousness though, Andy isn’t pursuing the presidency. As for whether he’s done “shrooms,” Andy told us, “I may or may have not. I’m not going to confirm or deny that.”

Now that’s the Samberg we know and love!

Celeste and Jesse Forever movie review: She's complicated

$

Parks and Rec’s Rashida Jones makes her screenwriting debut in this anti-romcom as a woman who struggles to relinquish control over her soon-to-be ex-husband. SNL's Andy Samberg plays man-child Jesse with heartfelt humor, but instead of wanting to kiss him, you may want to give him a timeout.

Rashida Jones and Andy Samberg in Celeste and Jessie Forever

All of Celeste and Jesse’s friends agree the couple are best friends -- despite their impending divorce. It’s clear they love each other and have grown to need each other, so why are they splitting up? The answer might have something to do with the way Celeste mothers Jesse. She takes care of his every need, so it’s no wonder he doesn’t have a job, an apartment, or a car. She provides all this for him, like a loving mother should. Only problem is, she’s his wife. No big surprise she’s fallen out of love with him, but what is surprising is how much she needs to control him.

As a successful “trend predictor” with a new book and marketing firm, Celeste claims she wants to move on to a man who’s more mature and self-possessed. But as Jesse drifts away in the raft she cut loose, it is Celeste who becomes lost at sea.

When Jesse tells her he’s expecting a baby with a woman he barely knows, Celeste spirals out of control. Her world, the world she thought she had firmly wrapped around her little finger, turns upside down. This is a trend she did NOT see coming.

Emma Roberts in Celeste and Jessie Forever

Meanwhile, Celeste’s doing P.R. for a kiss-my-sass pop star Riley , who snarls at Celeste over her Starbucks cup of pity. Riley thinks Celeste is the “o” word. Yes, old. When Riley goes through her own breakup, somehow Celeste’s wisdom seems to make being “old” OK.

But the real problem for Celeste is that she’s incredibly unaware of her own shortcomings. She enjoys standing in the corner of the party, putting everyone else down until she realizes she’s standing all alone and then claims to prefer it that way. While the script does a fairly good job at making couch potato Jesse look sympathetic, Celeste isn’t terribly likable. I applaud the film for taking a risk on such a complicated woman, but having to spend an hour and a half with her is challenging at times.

Rashida Jones in Celeste and Jessie Forever

All of the acting is good, it’s just that the stakes for Celeste seem so low. In what’s more typical of a male character, Celeste is the one who needs to realize that no one, herself included, is perfect. But she is beautiful and smart and lives in Los Angeles and is a product of a culture that insists all things are attainable -- if you spend enough money and know the right people.

Bottom line: This movie has some cute and clever moments, many delivered by Andy Samberg in his most down-to-earth role yet.

Rashida Jones talks bad breakups and weird dates

Co-writer and star of the romantic comedy Celeste and Jesse Forever, Rashida Jones talks about her inspiration for the film: Her own dating life.

Rashida Jones, Celeste and Jesse ForeverRashida Jones often plays hilarious characters. In her first screenplay turned film, Celeste and Jesse Forever, Jones continues this tradition, starring as a woman who falls apart after her attempt to remain friends with her soon-to-be ex-husband goes awry.

Her character Celeste goes through a number of laughable experiences in the film, from being dry-humped on a first date to passing out on a blow-up raft at a friend’s wedding shower.

Though these scenarios may seem far-fetched, when we sat down with Jones recently to discuss the film, we found out that many of these moments came directly from her personal dating past.

Rashida Jones talks Celeste and Jesse Forever

Co-writer and star of Celeste and Jesse Forever talks bad breakups and weird dates.

“I’ve had some pretty low points,” Rashida laughed. “I’ve never done anything as outwardly embarrassing [as Celeste]. But, I think when you’re miserable and heartbroken it feels like everybody can see it; like you’re just a big, raw, embarrassing mess.”

Andy Samberg still silly despite serious role in Celeste and Jesse >>

One specific moment that rings true to real life is when Celeste winds up being dry-humped by a previously charming photojournalist in his hotel room at L.A.’s famed Chateau Marmont. Jones tells us that story was taken straight from her dating history.

“Yep, lucky me,” she told SheKnows. “I definitely had my bad date run. There are a lot of things that happened to me.”

But through it all, Jones has learned exactly how to deal with a breakup.

“You just have to be sad,” said Jones. “You have to live through it. You shouldn’t distract yourself or go do things to ‘keep busy’ because it will hit you even harder. I think you got to just sit in it, as much as it sucks.”

Rashida created the screenplay for Celeste and Jesse Forever with her writing partner, Will McCormack, who she actually dated briefly in the 90’s. The two maintain, however, that the movie is not about their personal relationship history.

Rashida Jones to John Travolta: Come on out already!

Rashida Jones isn't waiting for John Travolta to come out of the closet -- she's calling on him to come out! Problem is, in case she hasn't heard, he either isn't gay or very much likes staying in... thank you very much.

Rashida Jones talks John TravoltaRashida Jones wants John Travolta to open up and say "I'm gay" -- now! The actress has put herself into another star's business by telling a reporter the actor ought to come out of the closet and serve as an example to others.

While perhaps well intentioned, that's just poor form, Rashida! Tsk, tsk.

The outing all began when the actress sat down for an interview to promote her latest movie, Celeste and Jesse Forever, alongside writing partner and ex-boyfriend Will McCormack. Speaking freely, Rashida Jones chatted about her obsession with singer Frank Ocean, who bravely came out last month.

Chiming in, Will McCormack told SpinningPlatters, "There needs to be, like, a professional athlete that comes out."

Rashida Jones then one-upped him, adding, "And a movie star! It's time... like John Travolta? Come out! Come on. How many masseurs have to come forward? Let's do this."

Ellen Page and the karma of outing gay Hollywood >>

Delving into the topic of coming out, she went on to dissect why recent "I'm gay" announcements haven't been headline news like their predecessors.

"Anderson Cooper is a TV personality. Like Neil Patrick Harris — okay, yes, it’s great that he came out, but these are both men who have lived in the gay community for a long time and I think everyone suspected, and there’s something about these iconic stars, people who are almost godlike," Rashida Jones reasoned.

"Because with someone like Frank Ocean, yes, it’s fantastic that he did what he did and his letter was so beautiful, and he’s in such close proximity to all these rappers so he’s battling homophobia just by being honest. But big stars need to come out. Ricky Martin was huge. That was big; I was really happy about that," she added.

"People are so precious about their careers."

All eyes are on the red carpet at the awards shows to see what the top celebrities are wearing, from their gowns to their makeup and -- of course -- their hair. At the Emmy Awards each September, we get a sneak peek at some of the latest hair trends for fall in terms of both style and color.

Let's take a look back at the top color trends on display at the 2011 Emmys and find out what to expect to see at the 2012 awards.

Giuliana Ranci at 2011 Emmys

Ombre color

In 2011, the ombre hair trend was still going strong -- from the red carpet to the city streets. At the 63rd Primetime Emmy Awards, Giuliana Rancic embraced the trend with her beautifully romantic side ponytail.

Minka Kelly at 2011 Emmys

Face-framing highlights

Minka Kelly is so pretty that it would be hard for her to do anything wrong. But at the 2011 Emmy Awards, her look was more than pretty -- it was drop-dead gorgeous. Her ladylike updo was the perfect complement to her lace Dior gown. And when it comes to color, her hair looked beautiful with soft, face-framing highlights.

Rashida Jones at 2011 Emmys

Rich browns

Rich brown hair color, from chestnut to chocolate, was hot for 2011. At the Emmy Awards, our favorite brunette was Rashida Jones. Her hair color looked rich, glossy and fresh. Her slightly sideswept bangs and low side chignon looked fabulous with her strapless Alberta Ferretti gown.

Christina Hendricks at 2011 Emmys

Racy reds

Red hair color was all the rage in 2011, from subtle highlights to full heads of vibrant red hair. One of our favorite redheads, Christina Hendricks, looked gorgeous on the red carpet at the Emmys. You might not realize that she's not a natural redhead. She dyed her blonde hair red for the first time at the age of 10, due to her obsession with the children's novel, Anne of Green Gables.

From the expert...

So what should we expect at the 2012 Emmy Awards? We talked to top stylist David John to give us a hint about what's hot for fall.

"Fall hair color will be shiny, strong color," John explains. "Cool single process blondes and brunettes are in. Highlights and ombre are out!! I am also seeing accents, tips and streaks of bright neon colors."

Currently at the uber-chic Serge Normant at John Frieda Salon in Los Angeles, his celebrity clientele has included Suzanne Somers, Cheryl Tiegs, Courteney Cox and Dana Delaney. John takes face shape, skin tone, body type, hair texture and lifestyle into account before choosing the style and color for each of his clients.

Keep in mind

You don't need to make a long commitment to a new hair color. You can try out different shades with temporary hair color that washes out in just a few shampoos.

Her shimmering shadow and soft plum blush are beautiful too, but it's her glossy red lips that take center stage. Find the perfect shade of red lipstick for you and dare to wear it often. Rashida Jones at 2011 Emmy's

Rashida Jones

One of our favorite looks at the 2011 Emmys was Rashida Jones' sexy-sweet side chignon and sultry makeup. Makeup artist Jo Strettell created her look with Maybelline cosmetics. Jones' eyes stand out with Maybelline New York Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner in Blackest Black dotted in between her lashes, as well as lining them, to make her lashes look much more dense. She used a shimmery cream eye shadow in the corners of her eyes and to highlight the browbone. Several coats of Maybelline New York The Falsies by Volum’ Express Mascara in Blackest Black finish off the eyes. On Rashida's lips, Strettell used Maybelline New York Color Sensational High Shine Lipcolor in Dazzling Plum, and a dusty mauve blush added a little color to her cheeks.

Julia Stiles at 2011 Emmys

Julia Stiles

Celebrity makeup expert Brett Fredman, who did Julia Stiles' makeup for the 2011 Emmys, calls this look "classic Hollywood with a touch of edge." Her eyes are smoky and beautiful without being too dark and her eyeliner looks just perfect. Take note that her cheek and lip color are barely there. When you play up your eyes , you should keep the rest of your makeup neutral -- just like this.

Kelly Osbourne at 2011 Emmys

Kelly Osbourne

Kelly Osbourne looked amazing in her aubergine Jay Mandel gown at the 2011 Emmy Awards, and her makeup was stunning -- especially the eyes. Makeup artist John Stapleton "decided to go for a more graphic eye, paying tribute to Sofia Loren." Stapleton used M•A•C Cosmetics to create her red carpet look. Vex eye shadow was softly swept over her lids with Powerpoint eye pencil in Permaplum smudged along the lash line, as well as in the crease in a distinctive V-shape. Shadowy Lady eye shadow is pressed into the crease and blended softly outward. To define Osbourne's eyes, Stapleton used Blacktrack Fluidline, both above and below, plus a lot of Zoomlash black mascara. He also added a #1 Lash to pump up the liner. Her eye makeup looked terrific with her spectacular gown, lavender-gray hair and sparkling silver manicure.

Speaking of eyes, we couldn't take our eyes off Lea Michele's makeup at the 2011 Emmy Awards. Celebrity makeup artist Melanie Inglessis created a cool, yet classic, look with defined eyes and super-long lashes using Lancome makeup. The Color Design 5 Pan Palette in Kissed by Gold was used on her lids, Artliner in Aubergine lined her eyes and multiple coats of Hypnose Doll Lashes mascara in So Black! gave her lashes a big boost. On her cheeks, Inglessis used a touch of rosy color with YSL Blush Radiance #1 and on her lips Lancome L'Absolu Rouge Lipcolor in Coquette.

Beauty tip

Make your eyes look bigger and brighter by applying a tiny bit of white eyeshadow near the inner corners. You can also extend your eye liner just slightly past the outer corners of your eyes to really open them up.

Steal the look: 3 Emmy hairstyles to try

The Emmys are a night to celebrate the best shows on television, but it’s also a night to get beauty ideas and trends from the stars! Celebrities are always on the cutting edge of beauty, especially when it comes to hair. Here are three Emmy beauty trends we’ve spotted and how to get them.
Heavy bangs

Heavy bangs

From Lea Michele to Zooey Deschanel, heavy bangs have come back in full force in recent seasons. This look is easy to achieve and maintain all on your own. If you want to skip the stylist, simply section off the front of your hair and comb it forward. Snipping small amounts at a time, cut your bangs to your desired length using your scissors at an angle. Take your bangs to the eyebrow level. Not ready to make that sort of commitment? There are plenty of clip-in bang extensions on the market for those nights you want to add a little more bang to your hairstyle. Find the appropriate color match, clip and go for an instant look of sophistication.

The messy side bun

Messy side bun

The glory of the messy side bun is that it can be worn with literally any outfit for any occasion. Wear it to the gym or wear it to your next red carpet event -- this look will always be in style. To get the messy side bun, start by curling sections of your hair, but not all of it. You want your hair to look imperfect! Once the sections are curled, mess them up with your fingers, tossing your hair from side to side. Then, bring all of your hair to the side where you want your bun to be. Loosely wrap the bun and secure with a clear elastic band. Poof up the roots of your hair to relax the look and bring down some strands toward your face for an added hint of sex appeal. Secure the bun with bobby pins and go!

Beachy waves

Beachy waves

Take this look from the coast to the red carpet in just a few simple steps. Beachy waves have been seen on Reese Witherspoon, Cameron Diaz and more, and it’s super easy to achieve. Simply start with clean, dry hair and divide it into sections. Twist the hair using a texturizing spray. Once each section is complete, mess up the look with your fingers and touch it up with a 1-inch curling iron for a more refined look.

Parks and Recreation sneak peek: Two "parties"

Leslie and Ben begin their walk to the altar with a little help from their friends.

The Parks and Rec girls

Nothing ever goes quite right in Pawnee, Indiana. That includes bachelor and bachelorette parties. Just a little over a month ago, Ben proposed to Leslie Knope . In pure Parks and Rec fashion, it was funny, cute and slightly awkward. Now it's time for a stag night!

Ann takes over planning Leslie's bachelorette party. Sadly, her plans are quickly overrun and ruined when Councilman Jamm steps in to "help". Penis straws and other inappropriate decor will abound for what looks like a pretty "intimate" gathering. Uh-oh.

Meanwhile, Chris steps up to be in charge of Ben's bachelor party and plans a game night. As the guys bond, though, Chris learns that none of them have ever had their own bachelor parties. We're not sure just how wild things will get. However, this sneak peek is meant to give us a clue and it looks like things stay pretty calm. Watch...

Newt Gingrich

Aside from the normal Parks and Rec shenanigans, there's another semi-cool reason to tune in to this week's episode. The outspoken author and former Republican congressman, Newt Gingrich, will make a guest appearance on the show! When Jerry goes out to dinner, he'll accidentally take Gingrich's table when their two last names are confused. That's a serious bummer for Jerry, but probably pretty funny for viewers.

As Leslie and Ben's wedding nears, what else can we expect? There's really no telling. Whatever it is, though, we're sure it'll be hilarious!

Parks and Recreation airs Thursday, Jan. 17 at 8:30/7:30c on NBC.
